[RECAP] Sydney GGC Meetup #2 – Ada Lovelace Day

by on October 12, 2011

The second GGC meetup was held on Ada Lovelace Day, 7th October.  Girl geeks from the University of Technology, Sydney, University of Sydney, University of New South Wales and University of Western Sydney and software engineers from Google indulged in delicious coffee and hot chocolates at Max Brenner Broadway.

It was an opportunity to network and also talk and learn about the world’s first computer programmer, Ada Lovelace.  Ada worked on the Analytical Engine with Charles Babbage in the 1880s and wrote the first algorithm to be processed by this machine.

Overall it was a fantastic meetup to celebrate Ada as a pioneer for computer science.  Special Thanks to GGC Ambassador Nicky Ringland for initiating and organising this event and to Google for sponsorship.

Hope to see you at the next meetup in December!
